Come take a stroll down Green Street, a first for the Austin Auto Show. This themed area will be dedicated solely to alternative fueled vehicles and the new technology behind them. The University of Texas Solar Vehicles team will be in this area Sunday, 4/21/13, with one of their solar powered cars. Make sure to stop by for this rare opportunity to see the car and talk directly to the students!
Marvel Costume Characters
Families, plan your visit to the Kid’s Zone and have your photo taken with Captain American or Iron Man. The Marvel Superheroes will be at the Austin Auto Show Saturday and Sunday.
Vintage Drag Cars
While you’re at the Austin Auto Show, stop by and see these Vintage drag cars. These are typical of the cars that race at the Texas Timing Association’s historic drag race events. The black 1948 Fiat coupe with an alcohol-burning 466 cubic inch Ford engine is owned and driven by Ben Wright of Buda, TX. The 1923-T roadster with a fuel injected 360 cubic inch Chevrolet engine burning nitromethane is driven by Jack Whitney of Bertram, TX. These and hundreds of other vintage drag race cars run regularly at the Texas State Championship races that have been produced each year at San Antonio Raceway by the Texas Timing Association (www.texastiming.com).

The River City Quarter Midget Association will have a display and information about their non-profit organization in the Kid’s Zone at the Austin Auto Show. The River City Quarter Midgets boast more than 2,500 family memberships and approximately 4,000 drivers between 5 and 17 years of age. This sport is one of the best kept secrets you’ll come across.
